I feel it is important to take pictures in locations that are comfortable for the people being photographed. That may be in your home, backyard or or some place with nice lighting and atmosphere. The location is your choice, but I am happy to give you some ideas.
Outdoor sessions are typically in the very early morning or late afternoon to take advantage of the best natural-light conditions. Indoor session can be anytime of day. When photographing young children please try to schedule the session during their "best time of day", not at nap or meal time. Plan on between 1 and 2 hours for your session to allow time for your child or family to become comfortable with the camera and to allow ample time for a variety of shots and clothing changes if desired.
